With recent reports linking Spurs to a January move for Juventus centre-back Merih Demiral, fans seem very keen on signing the Turkish defender.

According to Bleacher Report journalist Dean Jones (via Daily Hotspur), Spurs are interested in signing the 21-year-old, who is looking to leave Maurizio Sarri’s side in January. Jose Mourinho’s side will have to battle it out with fellow Premier League sides Manchester United and Arsenal for his signature, however, with the young defender expected to cost around €30 million (£25.2 million).

Since signing from Sassuolo over the summer, Demiral has found game time hard to come by for Juventus, with his transfer perhaps overshadowed by the signing of fellow young centre-back Matthijs de Ligt. The 21-year-old has made just one appearance for the Old Lady so far this season and is reportedly ready to end his time at the Italian giants.

Reaction from Spurs fans to the possible signing of Demiral can be seen in the tweets below.

One fan even begged Daniel Levy to open his wallet in January, which could be a tough ask after witnessing him splash £102 million back in the summer. Although, it has been reported that Levy will give Jose Mourinho transfer funds in the January transfer window, but it remains to be seen as to whether he will keep his word.

These Spurs fans are clearly keen on signing Demiral in January and are hoping that they can beat the likes of United and Arsenal to his signing.

What do we think?

Although his one performance for Juventus isn’t much to go off, Demiral was extremely impressive in Turkey’s Euro 2020 qualification campaign; making 10 appearances and keeping an extremely impressive eight clean sheets.

With Spurs’ defence having kept just two clean sheets all season, defensive additions seem likely and Demiral could be the perfect signing for Mourinho’s side.
