Following their 2-0 defeat on Sunday, many Spurs fans have been recalling the performances of former midfielder Mousa Dembele, with a lot of fans seemingly keen to re-sign the Belgian.

A post from LastWordonSpurs showed off some of Dembele’s best statistics in his time with Spurs; including a 90.7% pass accuracy and completing 82.9% of his attempted take-ons. The Belgian left the club in January of this year to join Chinese side Guangzhou R & F, with whom he has impressed; averaging a 7.37 rating so far this season.

Spurs originally signed the midfielder from Fulham in August 2012 and he enjoyed a successful six and a half years at the North London club; scoring 10 goals in 249 appearances. Dembele, who is now 32-years-old, is currently valued at £7.2 million by transfermarkt, which suggests that a move back to Spurs is perfectly achievable should Mourinho wish to bring the experienced midfielder back to the Premier League.

Reaction from Spurs fans to the post on Dembele can be seen in the tweets below.

These Spurs fans would clearly love to see Dembele back at the club in January, with many feeling that the Belgian international was never replaced.

What do we think?

Although Dembele was a great player for Spurs, he often struggled with injuries and was probably sold at the right time. Tanguy Ndombele looks like he could become a similar player to the Belgian in terms of dribbling ability, so perhaps Mourinho should put his faith in the Frenchman rather than looking to re-sign a 32-year-old Dembele.
