Spurs fans are even more frustrated with Christian Eriksen after it was revealed that the Danish midfielder has rejected several contract offers from the club.

According to the Standard (via Daily Hotspur), Spurs are extremely keen to sell the 27-year-old in January to avoid losing him on a free transfer when his current contract expires at the end of the season. It was hoped that Jose Mourinho would be able to convince the former Ajax man to stay at Spurs, but after several rejected contract offers worth around £200k-per-week, it seems as if the North London club have given up on keeping the creative midfielder.

Spurs originally signed Eriksen in 2013 and he has gone on to have an excellent career with Spurs; making 296 appearances and scoring 68 goals for the Lilywhites. However, following the Champions League loss in May, the Danish international revealed his intention to leave the club, but Spurs were unable to sell him over the summer and it now looks as if they will lose him for free at the end of the season.

Will Spurs manage to sell Eriksen in January?

Reaction from Spurs fans to the latest on Eriksen can be seen in the tweets below.

These Spurs fans are clearly frustrated that Eriksen has rejected the contract offers from the club and now want to see him dropped or sold as soon as possible.

What do we think?

Eriksen is currently valued at £81 million by transfermarkt, but you suspect that Spurs will be lucky to get anything close to that figure if they do manage to sell him in January. Perhaps a team will take a chance on the 27-year-old in January, but you get the feeling that he may just spend the rest of his Spurs career on the bench before leaving for free in the summer.
