Spurs fans took to Twitter on Saturday to slate the performance of Giovani Lo Celso in their 2-2 draw with Norwich.
Lo Celso was one of several Spurs players to under perform in their disappointing draw with Daniel Farke’s side, a result which once again distances the North London club from the top four positions. It was the Argentinian’s first league start under Mourinho and came after an impressive performance from the bench in the Boxing Day win over Brighton, but he struggled against a physical Canaries side.
The 23-year-old midfielder is currently on loan at Spurs from Real Betis having joined in the summer, and it still remains unclear whether Mourinho will want to exercise Spurs’ option to buy the creative midfielder in January or at the end of the season, as he was of course signed by former boss Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentinian international is seen by many Spurs fans to be the successor to Christian Eriksen; who is expected to leave when his contract expires in the summer, but his performance against Norwich has left many fans doubting the former PSG man.
Should Mourinho stick with Lo Celso against Southampton?

Looked like a poor mans Lamela.

Doesn’t fit the premier league, barely noticed he was playing for the majority of the match tonight. Very unimpressed with what I’ve seen so far. Ndombele was absolute quality tonight we need him in the middle of the park pulling strings with a solid CDM behind him and Dele CAM

Not convinced by him at all yet. Not done anything that makes me think his worth all the hype. I’d happily extend the loan but not sure sure I’d stump up the cash on him yet.

Ineffective.

Thought he was poor. Struggled to get into the game and passing was not up to standard

These Spurs fans were clearly not impressed with Lo Celso’s performance against Norwich, with some already willing to write the 23-year-old off.
What do we think?
Lo Celso impressed against Brighton but struggled on the wing against Norwich, perhaps due in part to a lack of physicality. If Spurs can utilise him in a more central position where he can impact the game, then surely the £45 million rated man will come good as he continues to adapt.
