Spurs fans were less than impressed to hear some of the comments from Jose Mourinho on Christian Eriksen over the weekend.
In a press conference (via Daily Hotspur), Mourinho spoke highly of the Danish midfielder, saying: Every time I play him, I think he shows clearly the quality he has and he tries to help the team when he’s on the pitch which is an important thing for me, independent of his future.”
The 27-year-old looks set to leave Spurs in the summer when his current contract expires, but he is still being utilised by the Portuguese manager; having appeared in five of Mourinho’s games in charge thus far.
Spurs fans have been critical of the former Ajax man, especially after his poor performances were quoted as one of the reasons behind Mauricio Pochettino’s sacking, but it seems that Mourinho was right about the Denmark international; after he came off the bench to register an assist in the weekend win over Wolves.
Is Mourinho right to keep playing Eriksen?
Yes
No

This can’t be real? His desire to help the team? Next joke please

Can’t see it. Eriksen has been great for us but it’s now time for him and the club to move on.

I think he’s invisible and does nothing to help the team.

These Spurs fans were clearly not in agreement with Mourinho after his comments on Eriksen with the majority hoping he stays out of the team.
What do we think?
Eriksen has shown glimpses of quality but his effort is clearly not what it used to be and you suspect that Mourinho is simply trying to drive up his value in the hope that a club decides to buy him in January rather than waiting till the summer. Currently valued at £81 million, both Mourinho and Daniel Levy will be keen to recuperate even a quarter of that rather than losing him for free at the end of the season.
