Spurs fans were treated to some quotes from chairman Daniel Levy on the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino and it seems as if the majority of fans were not impressed.
In an interview with Standard sport (via Daily Hotspur), Levy discussed the sacking of Pochettino as well as the subsequent appointment of Mourinho. One quote, in particular, seemed to frustrate fans, with Levy saying: “You have to understand I had built up a personal relationship with Mauricio. It’s not something I ever wanted. He’ll come back stronger. Maybe one day he’ll come back to us.”
Pochettino enjoyed a successful spell with Spurs following his appointment in 2014, leading the North London club to regular top-four finishes, as well as the fairytale run to the Champions League final last season. However, a disappointing transfer window in which the Argentinian failed to truly overhaul his squad, led to a dreadful start of the season, before Levy axed the 47-year-old in November with Spurs languishing in 14th place in the Premier League.

These Spurs fans are clearly split on Levy’s quotes, with some sympathetic to the chairman and believing that Pochettino will return to the club one day.
What do we think?
Mourinho, as successful as he is, rarely lasts longer than a few years at any club, so it is not unrealistic to suggest that Pochettino could return to the club in the future. It was clear that the Argentinian needed a break, but his work with Spurs in helping to turn them into one of England’s top sides should not be underestimated.
