Spurs fans were full of praise for midfielder Giovani Lo Celso after his impressive display during the 2-1 win over Brighton on Boxing Day.
The Argentinian came off the bench for Jose Mourinho’s side in the 56th minute and helped Spurs turn the game around against Graham Potter’s side, who had taken a 1-0 lead into half time after Adam Webster’s powerful header. The North London side were guilty of playing a lot of sideway passes and the introduction of Lo Celso gave them a lot of impetus going forward, with the Argentinian regularly providing a link between defence and attack.
The 23-year-old has found game time difficult to come by since joining Spurs on loan from Real Betis in the summer; having made just three starts for the club in all competitions. However, an excellent display against Brighton may well be enough to convince Mourinho that he is worthy of a start in Saturday’s game at Norwich City.
Does Lo Celso deserve to start against Norwich?
Yes
No

He looked class. Worked hard, showed desire, tenacity, played the right ball and is technically great. Oh and he isn’t afraid to defend and put a boot in

Hopefully the permanent replacement to Eriksen!

Exactly this
I thought lo celso was unreal but the moment eriksen came on and he was shafted to the right it was like the lads completely overlooked him as an attacking threat and went back to their old ways of relying on eriksen for everything and only him https://t.co/BrEVrsJFmi— SimplySpurs (@coyslife) December 27, 2019
These Spurs fans were clearly delighted with Lo Celso’s display against Brighton and will be hoping to see the Argentinian international start more often in the coming games.
What do we think?
Lo Celso looked really impressive against Brighton and although he was a Pochettino signing, it would be a surprise if he hasn’t done enough to convince Mourinho to sign him permanently in January. The 23-year-old looks to be the ideal long-term replacement for Christian Eriksen, who is, of course, expected to leave at the end of the season when his contract expires.
