After Spurs tweeted a video of former midfielder Sandro scoring against Wednesday’s opponents Manchester United, fans were quick to say they missed the Brazilian and compliment his strike.

In preparation for the game at Old Trafford, Spurs have been posting various goals against Manchester United from over the years and yesterday saw them post one of the best in Sandro’s screamer from a 2-2 draw with United at White Hart Lane in 2013.  The 30-year-old currently plies his trade with Genoa in Serie A; which is remarkably his sixth different club since leaving Spurs in 2014.

The Brazilian originally signed for Spurs from Internacional in 2010 and went on to make 106 appearances for the North London side before his move to QPR four years later. Although things have gone downhill for Sandro following a variety of spells with clubs across Europe, it seems as if this strike means he is still fondly remembered amongst Spurs fans.

Would Sandro have been a top player without his injuries?

Reaction from Spurs fans to Sandro’s goal can be seen in the tweets below.

Spurs fans clearly loved Sandro’s strike and feel that if he hadn’t struggled with injury then he could have gone on to be a top player for Spurs.

What do we think?

The fact that Sandro only managed to make 106 appearances for Spurs in his four years at the club shows that he did really struggle from injury and although he was talented, it may have been the best decision to move him on in 2014.

Interestingly, the 30-year-old is currently valued at £1.8 million, but it’s highly unlikely that the North London club would even think of bringing the Brazilian back.
