Spurs were given a huge boost ahead of Wednesday evening’s trip to Old Trafford after it was announced that Manchester United forward Anthony Martial will miss the game through injury.
It was confirmed by Sky Sports (via Daily Hotspur), that the French striker will miss the game against Spurs after suffering a muscular problem in last weekend’s draw with Aston Villa. The 23-year-old has been one of the few impressive performers in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United squad; averaging a 7.11 rating so far this season.
Mourinho will no doubt be glad to avoid the former Monaco forward as he prepares to return to Old Trafford on Wednesday night, with his new Spurs squad looking to make it four wins from four games. With United currently languishing in 10th place in the Premier League, the game represents a real chance for Mourinho and Spurs to win and push themselves back into Champions League contention, and Martial’s absence will certainly be a boost.

Spurs fans are clearly delighted to see that one of United’s most dangerous players will miss their important clash on Wednesday night.
What do we think?
Martial has looked dangerous at times for United this season, having produced an impressive five goals and three assists in 12 games for the Red Devils. He’s United’s second-highest contributor and his finishing ability would have been a real worry for Jose Mourinho’s side.
Form suggests that Mourinho will get one over his former side on this one but it would be unwise to rule out young Mason Greenwood; who can be an excellent stand-in for the injured Martial.
