A dream move for Real Madrid star is looking more and more of a possibility for Spurs fans, after it was revealed that it would only take a ‘minimally competent’ offer to secure his services.

According to Spanish news outlet Sport (via Sportwitness), Real Madrid are very keen to offload the 30-year-old winger in January and Spurs could be open to ensuring a sensational return for the Welsh winger. The North London club originally sold Bale to Real Madrid in 2012 for a world-record fee and he has gone on to win four Champions Leagues during his time in Spain.

Despite the 30-year-old having a very impressive goal record for Los Blancos; with 104 goals in 241 games, Bale has seemingly never endeared himself with Real Madrid fans. He recently showed off a banner following Wales’ Euro 2020 qualification which said: Wales, Golf, Madrid. In that order. This certainly did not improve his popularity amongst fans, with many booing the Welshman in recent fixtures.

TIF Tactics:

Real Madrid may well be willing to let Bale leave for a minimal fee but his wages will surely still present an issue for Jose Mourinho and Daniel Levy. The former Spurs man is reportedly earning £350,000 a week after tax, so he would presumably have to take a hefty wage cut if he was to make the move back to the Premier League.

Bale is no doubt a talented player but has struggled with injuries during his time at Madrid, so it would be a very expensive risk for Mourinho to take if he attempts to bring the 30-year-old back to the club in January. The report also suggests that Spurs could throw in Christian Eriksen as part of the deal, which would kill two birds with one stone and leave both clubs happy, so certainly don’t rule out Bale returning to North London in January.
