These Newcastle United fans have been discussing Joelinton after the Brazilian striker continues to struggle to put goals to his name.
After 20 Premier League matches for Newcastle, Joelinton has only scored once and has also assisted just twice. Not the greatest of returns from someone who plays predominantly as a striker, but despite the lack of goals, the Magpies fan’s opinions are still divided.
Here’s what the Newcastle United fans had to say about Joelinton’s current form:
Agreed. The abuse he gets is mad. Can see a decent player in there. A more attacking team and he’s right at home . Probs never be a 40 mil player but perhaps a creative force in a side that desperately lacks it

Couldn’t care less what he did at his last club. He needs to do it at ours, pointless brag about his history because it doesn’t get him goals ornpoints at Newcastle!

It’s impossible to judge an attacking player in that set up we play the worst football in the prem can’t string 4 passes together

Someone who supported NUFC when we sacked the board in the 80s. Was there when we bought Shearer! Mbappe is 20, world cup winner, Messi at 17 won Champs league! At 23, Joelinton, if he was any good he’d be in the Brazil squad. Rafa didn’t want him!

Who's better, Joelinton or Andy Carroll?
Joelinton
Andy Carroll
During his time in Hoffenheim, the 23-year-old only scored seven goals in 29 Bundesliga outings, so the Brazilian has hardly ever been a prolific scorer, although he does appear to have the potential to be incredibly useful.
He’s not terrible. He’s not great.vBut he’s probably the best proof there’ll ever be that the way the club does transfers is completely flawed, to the detriment of the team & to some individuals.

Spin as much as you like but how many goals has he scored or assists has he made? He is an attacker after all

Definitely a player there, but we are a poor footballing team 90% of the time, not creating good chances, not getting the right players in the right positions when it matters, love Big AC but it allows others to just lump it forward in his direction & hope!

What Do We Think?
You could argue that Joelinton needs more time, but the Brazilian striker has already played 20 Premier League games this season and has still only managed to get one goal.
Maybe it is time to start playing Andy Caroll for longer periods of time, however, maybe Steve Bruce is nervous about causing any injuries. If the Magpies don’t bring in Caroll, then serious tactical changes will have to be made or maybe the board will think about moving Joelinton on in January?
