Some Celtic fans have been involved in a heated debate in a choice about former Manchester United man Tyler Blackett being the worst player of the decade.

The Hoops are currently at the top of the Premiership – five points clear at the top of the table. They recently beat Hearts 2-0 to increase their advantage (BBC)

The recent years have seen the club make two of the most expensive signings in club history- Odsonne Edouard and Christopher Jullien. But there have been many failed signings too.

Celtic fans: Was Blackett the worst player of the decade?

He sure was

He sure was

There were many worse

There were many worse

And Celtic fans feel that former Manchester United man Tyler Blackett has been the worst of the decade.

Blackett is a product of the Manchester United youth academy and made his debut for the Red Devils under the tutelage of Louis van Gaal in the 2014-15 campaign.

He joined the Hoops on loan from United in the summer of 2015, months after making his debut for the Old Trafford side. During his stay at Parkhead, he played eight times in all competitions for the Hoops. He played three times only in the Premiership, featuring at left-back and centre-back.

After his loan stint at Celtic ended, Blackett left United and joined Championship side Reading in the summer of 2016. For the Royals, he played a total of 106 times for the club in all competitions and racked up a tally of six assists on the way.

What do we think?

A lot of the fans’ judgement about Blackett emerges from how he was a Manchester United player back then. But it doesn’t change the fact that he was poor during that time. Despite being there for the whole season, he could never be a regular part of the side. The fact that his career has now stalled says a lot.
