Manchester City fans are urging the club to go out and sign Erling Braut Haaland. The Salzburg striker is regarded as one of the hottest properties in the European game and is said to have a release clause in his contract of just €20m (£16.85m).

Alf-Inge Haaland played for the Cityzen’s between 2000 and 2003, therefore, a move to the club would mean Erling following in his father’s footsteps.

With Sergio Aguero on the wrong side of 30 perhaps it’s time City begin looking for a long-term replacement for the Argentinian so what have the fans made of the possibility of signing Haaland for as little as €20m?

What do we think?

Erling Haaland would have to be considered a steal at just €20m (£16.85m), the 19-year-old has taken the Austrian Bundesliga by storm and there are reportedly more than 20 clubs keeping an eye on him including Manchester United and Italian giants Juventus.

In 20 appearances so far this season, the striker has scored 27 goals including 8 in the Champions League. If City are to go after the 6ft 3in striker, they will face stiff competition from some of the continent’s most powerful clubs but they’ve shown financially they are capable of competing with almost everybody.

Perhaps his father’s affiliation with the club could enhance the possibility of the move, but if they were to pull it off for that sort of fee, it would be a gamble well worth taking.
