Kevin De Bruyne has been in excellent form of late and the Belgian international’s goal versus Newcastle United at St James’ Park is one of a number of brilliant strikes that have been nominated for the club’s goal of the month competition.
The 28-year-old, who is valued at £117 million (as per Transfermarkt), faces competition from Kyle Walker, Adrian Bernabe, Caroline Weir, Raheem Sterling, Tessa Wullaert and Riyad Mahrez.
Whilst all were fantastic goals the fans are unanimous in who they believe should collect the prize.

What do we think?
All the strikes included in the vote and the compilation are excellent goals but the two that stand out to us are those of De Kevin Bruyne and Caroline Weir. The former Chelsea man takes the ball down on his chest and without breaking his stride hits the ball ferociously on the bounce leaving Martin Dubravka helpless as the ball cannons off the underside of the crossbar before eventually crossing the line.
As for the left-footed wonder goal from Weir, the sheer audacity to take on the shot from that distance is what makes this an incredible strike. The loop catches the goalkeeper completely off-guard and leaves the opponents stunned.
The technique displayed by De Bruyne in terms of the entire movement from the minute the ball reaches his chest to when it crosses the goal line means it slightly edges Weir’s strike but it’s certainly a worthy runner up.
