Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez has revealed that Fernandinho will be leaving the club at the end of this current season.
The Algerian let slip when answering a question posed to him by a Sky Sports presenter and Benjamin Mendy’s reaction almost certainly confirmed his team-mate was not supposed to let the cat out of the bag.

What do we think?
Fernandinho has been key to Manchester City’s success in recent seasons but Guardiola’s decision to move him into the centre of his defence was, perhaps, the first sign of the end for the old guard. Aside from the fact the Spaniard doesn’t appear to trust the pairing of John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi, it’s clear that he feels it’s important to develop Rodri and give Ilkay Gundogan more game-time.
Whether there will be an announcement regarding the Brazilian’s future following this remains to be seen but one thing which is clear is that he’ll be missed by the clubs loyal fans. The 34-year-old has won three Premier League title’s with the Manchester club and what a send off it would be if he was to taste Champions League glory in what we now believe will be his final season.
