Valencia are set to launch a bid to resign former defender Joao Cancelo from Manchester City with the La Liga outfit already having made contact with the players representative Jorge Mendes, according to a report by Marca.
The Portuguese defender only joined the Cityzens earlier this year but having made just six Premier League appearances so far this season a return to Spain could be on the cards.
Despite Cancelo’s failure to make the right-back position his own at the Etihad, there are plenty of City fans who would be against any potential sale with some feeling he should be given more opportunities to play.
Would you be against Joao Cancelo being allowed to leave in January?
Yes
No
I’ll never know why he doesn’t start

Why he is not playing any games in the league.I would understand if Walker would be in form, great etc. but he is not,he is out of position many times, not good enough in defense and going forward produce nothing game by game and still Cancelo not playing anything.I dont understand

What’s the point of signing him? For 60m we could have sign a center back and still have our luck puller Danilo.

One fan even appeared to suggest Cancelo was better than Walker prior to the transfer rumour emerging, clearly showing how high the Portuguese defender is held by those in the stands.
Garcia looks a better bet than either Stones or Otamedi at the moment and I don’t get why Walker keeps starting ahead of Cancelo. But hey, what do I know? #MCFC

What do we think?
Allowing Cancelo to leave so early on in his Manchester City career would almost be an admission that signing him was a mistake in the first place. City spent just shy of £60m on the defender according to Transfermarkt.co.uk, so why has it gone so wrong for him in Manchester?
His defensive capabilities have often been called into question which is always a problem when you’re deployed as a defender. However there is no denying that going the other way, he is one of the most exciting full-backs in the European game – it’s clear that Pep Guardiola doesn’t view him as a better option than Kyle Walker and with the England international’s form showing no signs of deteriorating, Cancelo’s opportunities have been extremely limited.
