Manchester City were held to a draw at St James’ Park by a spirited Newcastle United side handing Liverpool the opportunity to stretch their lead over last season’s champions. Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne were on the scoresheet for the Cityzen’s but their goals were cancelled out by Jetro Willems and Jonjo Shelvey.
De Bruyne’s strike, in particular, was worth revisiting, the Belgian’s stunning shot cannoned off the underside of the crossbar before crossing the line – a strike worthy of winning any game.
However, these fans have deemed it irrelevant and were not best pleased with the club’s admin, given the way the game finished.
Was De Bruyne's strike the goal of the season so far?
Yes

What do we think?
It was a wonderful goal but given the disappointing result and the repercussions of it you can understand why these supporters have been irritated by the post. City remain in third but now find themselves 11 points off of the pace following Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion.
Despite Pep Guardiola’s calm post-match reaction, he will have been livid with what he witnessed at the weekend having surrendered a lead twice; but is it now time to almost surrender the Premier League title in order to focus on the UEFA Champions League?
Given the way things are going, it appears it’s a choice that will essentially be made for him.
