These Liverpool fans have been mocking former Manchester United player and current Salford City owner Paul Scholes after his comments about the FIFA Club World Cup.

When speaking to BBC 5 Live Sport, the Manchester United legend stated: “Even now if someone said to you ‘What trophies did you win over the years?’ I don’t think we’d mention the World Club Championship.” Going even further to suggest his badminton trophy is more important.

Scholes played 499 Premier League matches for Manchester United, scoring 107 times and assisting on 54 occasions.

Liverpool fan account, Anfield Edition, picked up on the comments and relayed it to their follows, which led to a number of supporters to provide their initial thoughts on Scholes’ remarks.

Here’s what the Liverpool fans had to say about Scholes’ comments:

Is a prime Paul Scholes better than Jordan Henderson?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Despite the negative comments about the competition, Scholes is ironically a FIFA Club World Cup winner with Manchester United.

What Do We Think?

The comments are pretty immature considering Paul Scholes has won the exact same trophy that he’s now slating. Indeed, we feel this is most likely just Liverpool vs Manchester United rivalry and shouldn’t be taken too much to heart, nevertheless, the Man United legend really hasn’t done his reputation any favours, as even the most dedicated United fan will struggle to back his comments up.
