Liverpool fans have been recalling a superb assist from former midfielder Emre Can after a video was posted of the pass from the Reds’ 4-1 win over Southampton in 2015.

The video, which was posted by LFC Laurie, shows Can playing a delightful outside-of-the-foot pass for Daniel Sturridge who gratefully tucked it away. The German midfielder originally joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in 2014 and went on to make 167 appearances for the Reds before moving to Juventus on a free transfer in 2018.

Can, now 25, is yet to set the world alight at Juventus; with just 43 appearances for the Italian giants since signing and after the video of his assist, it seems as if some fans feel as if he made a big mistake in leaving Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Would Emre Can get into this current Liverpool side?

Reaction from Liverpool fans to the wonderful assist from Can can be seen in the tweets below.

One fan even stated that the ball was Steven Gerrard-esque, which links in to the 115 assists he managed to produce during his time at Anfield. Of course, Can wasn’t quite on the same level as the Englishman, but there are certainly similarities between his assist and Gerrard’s against Fulham.

Liverpool fans clearly enjoyed Can’s assist and seem disappointed that he left in the manner which he did.

What do we think?

Can looked like he had a lot of potential at Liverpool and looks to have made a big mistake in leaving on a free transfer. Klopp’s side have gone from strength to strength ever since and now with Can struggling for game time in Maurizio Sarri’s Juventus side, you wonder if he too thinks he made a big mistake in leaving.
