Jurgen Klopp is reportedly a huge admirer of Timo Werner, but the German is now attracting the attention of rival manager Frank Lampard.

According to the Daily Star: “Jurgen Klopp is a huge admirer of RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner” and it is also stated that Liverpool “have been tracking Werner for a while.”

However, the Daily Star also mention a recent article from the Express that states that Chelsea “plan to show their hand first” which could cause major issues for any potential Liverpool bid.

Werner has played 17 matches in the Bundesliga this season for RB Leipzig, scoring an amazing 18 goals and also assisting six times. These would be brilliant stats if they were from all competitions this season, but that’s just the Bundesliga stats.

In all competitions for club and his national side Germany, the 23-year-old has scored 27 goals and assisted seven times. These matches include outings in the UEFA Champions League and for his country in the European Championship.

The German striker is valued at £67.5m by Transfermarkt, however considering how easily the 23-year-old is scoring in Germany, you can see why the figure is so high.

Verdict

If we were in charge of Liverpool’s transfers, this deal would definitely be happening, however, we don’t control Jurgen Klopp’s side and that price tag might be putting the Reds off a little bit.

You also have to consider whether you want Chelsea to gain such a clinical player, therefore it may be in Liverpool’s interest to steal Werner from Frank Lampard, which could cause them to panic buy an unsuitable player or someone else not on the Germans level.
