According to The Athletic, via Express, Liverpool is set to let Adam Lallana leave at the end of the season.

The article has stated that: “Lallana will wave goodbye to Anfield at the end of the season.” Depending on whether you’re sentimental or not, this may be great news or very sad news. Considering Lallana has been with Liverpool since 2014, you would think that the club would have more of an attachment to the 31-year-old, similar to the way they feel about James Milner.

“I’m not sure if [Minamino] is viewed as the Lallana replacement but it certainly strengthens that area of the squad,” James Pearce said during a Q&A.

“Lallana will leave at the end of the season.”

Are Liverpool right to potentially let Lallana leave at the end of the season?

However, it seems very likely that the UEFA Champions League winner‘s time is up and is probably going to attract a lot of attention from other clubs when leaving.

The 31-year-old left Southampton for a fee of £27.9m in July 2014, however, Lallana now has an estimated Transfermarkt value of £10.8m.

This season, game time hasn’t come easily for the midfielder, playing just seven matches in the Premier League, with only one goal being his contributions. Lallana may feel left out, due to not playing a single UEFA Champions League game this season, despite winning the whole competition with Liverpool last season.

The 31-year-old has had a great club career, however, Lallana also played 31 matches for England and managed to score three times for his country. However, he has only started twice for his club this season, with his latest coming against Everton on 4th December.

Verdict

It’s a shame to see a player how’s achieved so much now waste away on the scrapheap, but hopefully, Adam Lallana can join a club that really values what he brings to a side and also values his past achievements. We think a move back to Southampton could be brilliant for both player and club, as it’s a very “romantic” move, given that was the club he really made a name for himself at, but whether any of them would be interested in a reunion remains to be seen.
