A report in Football Insider has claimed that Liverpool will only allow Rhian Brewster to go out on loan if he is guaranteed game time.

Brewster, though, is thought to be in high demand with both Premier League and Championship clubs looking to bring the 19-year-old in for the second half of the season.

One of those clubs is believed to be Leeds United.

Problems facing Leeds

Liverpool want Brewster to play regular football and are unlikely to sanction a move to Elland Road if Patrick Bamford continues to be the first-choice striker.

Leeds already have Eddie Nketiah demanding a start and are likely to lose him in January – with Arsenal said to be unhappy at the lack of game time for the 20-year-old.

Bamford is Marcelo Bielsa’s go-to striker – he didn’t even drop him when the 26-year-old was on a goal drought of 11 matches, so it is unlikely that he would drop him just to bring in Brewster.

Would Leeds make the move?

The 19-year-old, who is valued at £3.6m by Transfermarkt, will leave Liverpool on loan in January, but he will not end up at Elland Road unless Nketiah is recalled, as expected, and they guarantee the Reds that Brewster will get starts.

Of course, if the Whites can offer him a key role then Elland Road may just be his January destination, but it seems unlikely that Bielsa will be able to make those kind of assurances right now.

Brewster is a very exciting player, which was echoed by Noel Whelan, who described him as a potentially exciting signing. He won the golden boot during the England Under-17’s world cup-winning tournament back in 2017 and has already appeared twice in the Reds’ first team, so he’s certainly an exciting prospect.
