An update from James Pearce has once again got these Liverpool fans excited about Takumi Minamino joining in January, as he dipped into the formalities of his supposed move and revealed plenty of details about the Reds’ pursuit of the attacker.
He stated:
Barring any hitches with his medical, the Japan international will sign a lucrative five-year contract and complete a £7.25 million move to Liverpool when the transfer window opens on January 1.
With his release clause so low, it’s no wonder the Anfield hierarchy of Fenway Sports Group president Mike Gordon, sporting director Michael Edwards and manager Jurgen Klopp were in complete agreement that this deal was “a no-brainer”. Liverpool believe his market value is about £25 million.
It seems Minamino is just a medical away from finally becoming a Liverpool player, as his side RB Salzburg are set to play LASK today in the Austrian Bundesliga, a team who are just two points behind them in the league table.

What Do We Think?
This is obviously a fantastic deal and we really don’t need to try and convince you otherwise. Takumi Minamino has shown he can score goals both domestically and in Europe, so Liverpool fans shouldn’t be nervous about the 24-year-old becoming another famous flop.
Of course, providing more cover for the front three can only be good news as the Reds continue to chase silverware in the current campaign.
