Spurs fans were delighted to hear that the club has been given permission to expand the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to 62,303 seats.

The club announced on twitter that the Haringey council had granted permission to increase the capacity of the new stadium, which Spurs officially moved into in April of this year; where they marked the occasion with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace. It comes as further good news for the club, who have seen the team’s form turn around following the appointment of Jose Mourinho, with a top-four finish now not out of their grasp.

Spurs have been averaging 59,429 fans at their new stadium so far this season, so an increase in capacity was always going to be likely, especially with the North London club anticipating a strong run in the Champions League. Although this is only a small increase to the capacity, you would suspect that there will be larger increases in the coming years, as Spurs continue to grow as a club.

These Spurs fans were clearly delighted with the stadium update and will be hoping to see further extensions in the future, with the hopes of selling out the stadium later on this season an obvious target for the club.
