Leicester City will need to pay €20m (£17m) if they want to bring Hakan Calhanoglu to the King Power Stadium. Italian journalist Nicolo Schira reported earlier in the week that Brendan Rodgers’ side had made an enquiry in regards to the player’s availability.

The Turkish international looks set to leave AC Milan having made 107 appearances for the club to date. Calhanoglu is a fully-fledged Turkish international and helped his country qualify for the European Championships next summer.

Would Calhanoglu strengthen this current Foxes side?

According to Calciomercato.com, the player is said to prefer a move back to Germany, the country in which he was born and began his footballing career but his next destination is dependant on who is willing to meet the Serie A club’s asking price.

Although Calhanoglu has been a regular starter under Stefano Pioli, his contract is set to expire in 2021 therefore selling him now makes economical sense if he’s not willing to extend his stay beyond that.

The 25-year-old is known for his dead-ball expertise and has previously spent time with Hamburg and Bayern Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

TIF Tactics  – A worthwhile investment?

He’s a player of great quality but unfortunately for him, Milan hasn’t been in the greatest of shape these past few seasons. If he were to join up with Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes, he would bring great technical ability but would need to adapt quickly to the physical nature of England’s Premier League.

With plenty of years still ahead of him, Calhanoglu at €20m (£17m) could be an absolute steal and it’s a story that is expected to gather pace once the transfer window opens.
