At the time of writing this, Everton supporters have reacted in a down-beat fashion despite the positive news that Richarlison is set to sign a new five-year deal.
In a report published on Tuesday morning, it was revealed that the Brazilian is set to sign a new contract with the Merseyside club despite interest from Manchester United (as per The Guardian). And, it has now been announced that the Brazilian has signed a new deal.
Despite the apparent good news, some fans originally believed that the new contract meant nothing and was only a bargaining chip to get a better price in an impending transfer, drawing a comparison to a previous Everton star.
The new contract just protects his sell on value. Good business but nothing more.

While the negativity was rife, others called the 22-year-old Brazilian, who is valued at £45 million (Transfermarkt), into question and highlighted a recent criticism of the attacker – that he had a tendency for theatrics (per Liverpool Echo).

What do we think?
While the news is positive, whichever way you look at it, it seems as though the difficult atmosphere surrounding Goodison Park at the moment has overshadowed the contract signing.
Even if the worst is to be believed, a greater transfer fee if Richarlison does depart the blue half of Merseyside will only aid in finding the most suitable replacement.
