Supporters of Everton are devastated that Marcelo Gallardo has become the latest name to rule himself out of the race to be named Everton’s next gaffer.
On Wednesday night, the Argentine 43-year-old poured cold water on the rumours linking him with a switch to Goodison Park after insisting that he will remain with River Plate (per The Mirror).
Just a day after Vitor Periera also ruled himself out of the running (as per Sky Sports), which, admittedly, Everton fans were not too bothered about, they were gutted to see Gallardo’s interest wain, with his level of English speaking touted as a possible reason (via Christopher Beesley).
Marcelo Gallardo has said he’s staying at River Plate. Has been linked with the Everton vacancy but as impressive as his track record is in South America, an apparent lack of English probably ruled him out at this stage.

so we’ve been linked with everyone and land up with Moyes. Probably all a smoke screen so the fans can’t say the board didn’t try get a better option

Pochettino couldn’t speak a word of English when he came England worked alright for him?

Are you disappointed that Marcelo Gallardo has ruled himself out of the Everton running?Yes, he would have been goodNo, we need someone else |
The 43-year-old Argentine has been at the helm of the club in his home country since June 2014 and over 254 matches has an impressive points per game total of 1.8 (as per Transfermarkt).
With six pieces of silverware under his belt from eight years in full-time management (per Transfermarkt), it is perhaps clear why Everton supporters were so disappointed to hear that he would not be their man.
I’m a bit gutted about this one. https://t.co/g79UGPlWyO

Me too! he would have been a very interesting appointment.. his way of setting up his team… he is great tactically heavy midfield, pressing and very direct

Or he’s giving himself 6 months to learn English while he finishes the season in Argentina?

What do we think?
While Gallardo does have good managerial experience for a 43-year-old it is completely unclear as to whether he would do well managing away from South America.
Perhaps the Argentine may be one to revisit in the future, but it seems like an alternate route is the best one to take for the Merseyside club at the moment.
