Supporters of Everton have fumed over Bill Kenwright’s continued involvement with the Toffees as the club’s chairman.
On Tuesday afternoon, a local journalist, Mike Parry, defended Kenwright, arguing that he ‘saved Everton from oblivion’ when he took over (per Mike Parry).
However, with the opinion re-sparking fury over the 74-year-old chairman, many began to fume over the continued involvement he has at Goodison Park.
I don’t know how long I’ve got to keep telling yers all .. Bill Kenwright saved Everton from oblivion. We had zero money when he bought the club and mortgaged himself to the eye-balls. If he’d borrowed £300 million as the loud voices demanded we’d now be Leeds/Nott Forest/P’mouth https://t.co/torA9qTCNc

Spent none of his own money investing in the club.
Mortgaged absolutely everything THE CLUB owned, including a piece of land by the club shop.
Ran the club so close to the wall that no “main” bank would touch us.
Relied on the Mozart with Money to bankroll us.— Watched Toffee (@WatchedToffee) December 3, 2019
I dont know him many times I’ve got to say it. Bill kenwright is a liar. He never mortgaged his house to buy Everton. He’s never put a penny into the club.

You are – as usual – wrong.

Who is the biggest problem at boardroom level for the Toffees?Kenwright, he needs to goMoshiri, he needs to step backBrands, he needs to do more |
The West End theatre producer took over as chairman of the club in 2004, before beginning to sell off parts of his stake in the Toffees to Farhad Moshiri in 2016 (as per The Guardian).
Despite his prolonged involvement with the Toffees, many felt that Kenwright was a problem that was dragging Everton down and wanted to see the 74-year-old relieved of his position.
He’s a jinx, fact!! Whilst I admire he’s tried his best, he has to be the longest serving Everton Chairman without winning a trophy in our complete history? Sometimes you have to look at a common denominator as to the reasons why we are where we are and it’s your buddy Bill

Whatever your opinion of what BK has done in the past he’s totally finished in what we should be doing in the future. He shouldnt be part of where we want to be going now, the fact he wants to reminisce old times every chance he gets means we will NEVER progress while he is there

What do we think?
It is a tricky one, it is no doubt that Kenwright has overseen a good, successful run for the Toffees in the past but times appear to be much stonier for the club now.
There are clear divisions in the blue half of Merseyside at boardroom level (per The Athletic) and it may be better for all involved it Kenwright was to walk.
