Some West Bromwich Albion fans have been left chuffed at the club’s latest tweet which shows Matheus Pereira’s free-kick goal against Bristol City last night.

The Baggies picked up an impressive 4-1 win over the Robins on Wednesday, with Kieran Gibbs, Hal Robson-Kanu, Charlie Austin and Pereira himself on the scoresheet in mid-week.

Pereira’s free-kick was hit from the edge of the box and it was a dink past Bristol goalkeeper Daniel Bentley. The video of the Brazilian’s free-kick went viral and the club’s Twitter handle posted it too.

Some Baggies fans can’t believe what they saw and are hailing Pereira for it.

Should West Brom sign Pereira permanently?

Yes, no doubt!

Yes, no doubt!

Last night’s goal was Pereira’s fourth of the current Championship campaign. So far this season, he has racked up a tally of ten assists in just 16 appearances for the first-team.

He has been a regular in the attacking midfield position but has also been versatile enough to play on the left or on the right.

The 23-year-old arrived at the Hawthorns this past summer on an initial loan deal which is worth £4.95m (as per Transfermarkt) and he is set to move back to Sporting Lisbon at the end of the season, but the Baggies have the option to sign him permanently.

Last season, Pereira had spent a loan deal at German club Nuremberg. He had played 21 times in all competitions, scoring twice and assisting only thrice. He is a product of the Sporting youth academy.

What do we think?

As per Whoscored, Pereira has been West Brom’s most important player with a rating of 7.35. He has the highest number of assists and the second-highest number of goals too.

His creation has been key, playing 2.2 key passes per game for the club. He has completed the fourth-most number of dribbles per game too, taking the third-highest number of shots per game as well.

The way he is playing, it should be enough to suggest that Pereira should be signed permanently by West Brom. They might just achieve promotion to the Premier League and their most productive player will be very important indeed.
