Sunderland’s win on the weekend was vital to the team’s promotion hopes. A goal from Luke O’Nien put the home team up in the 20th minute. The win brought Sunderland within three points of third place with a game-in-hand.
And while the game’s result was important, it was the entertaining manner of how the goal was scored that got fans excited. O’Nien scored a diving header to put the Black Cats up. It was the player’s second diving header in successive home games, proving that it wasn’t just dumb luck the first time.

Can’t remember the last time I’d seen a diving header, now I’ve seen 2 in as many home games

It was. No ifs or buts. It was just lush. End of.

But one fan, while impressed with the style of the goal, wants to see more. The 1-0 win, in his eyes, could have been a lot more.
Yes it was but could have and should have had a few more

What do we think?
You know what they say, ‘it doesn’t really matter how they go in.’ But when you see your team scoring diving headers you can begin to admit that the nicer the goals are, the more meaningful they become. Despite this, Sunderland fans will hope that the Black Cats can continue their winning ways, scoring more than just one goal a game.
