This week, Sunderland were knocked out the FA Cup in the first round for the first time since 1924 (Chronicle Live). The exit itself is a disappointment to fans, however, they will be more concerned about the team’s form heading back into league play on the weekend.
It was manager Phil Parkinson’s ninth game in charge of the Black Cats. The cup exit also marked his sixth loss. Fans were concerned about this record, as expected. Some fans call for the manager to be sacked, while the others don’t understand the appointment in the first place.
Was prepared to give him a chance but see no justification for him to stay any longer

There wasn’t a single fan who thought Parkinson was the right choice. Donald and Methven are slowly killing the club. They are out of their depth. I can’t think of one thing they have got right. Ross was a failure, Parkinson is worse. Recruitment embarrassing. We’re a shambles

One supporter compared Parkinson’s record with previous manager Jack Ross’ record. He is almost catching up with Ross’ all-time defeat record at Sunderland according to this supporter. Another suggested that Parkinson needs to get his players in check and demand more from them.
He’s soon catching up to Jack Ross’s all time defeat record here.

Gaffer better call each one of them into his office tomorrow morning. Each player needs evaluating.

What do we think?
Clearly, things need to change at Sunderland football club. Pressure will be put on owner Stewart Donald to make a decision about the manager’s decision soon. The longer he waits, the further Sunderland could fall from a promotion spot.
