Sunderland fans will be relieved to have clawed back a point against Coventry on the weekend. After conceding a goal in a 26th minute to Dominic Hyam, the club trailed until the 90th minute. A goal from Benjamin Mbunga-Kimpioka helped the Black Cats avoided defeat (BBC).
But while supporters will be relieved to have earned the point, they are not willing to celebrate. This was evident after the club posted a video on Twitter of the team celebrating the goal. To these fans, a draw against Coventry isn’t good enough. Especially at home.
When you’re portraying a last minute equaliser in L1 at home to Coventry as something positive…

Wasn’t that great. Would have meant more if it was a last minute winner, not scrapping a draw at home

Can’t believe the admin thinks scraping a draw with Coventry is a good thing.

This is not positive to score a last minute equalizer

You honestly trying to big this up? If we had lost you would have had more freelance work on taking another manager scarf pic

Others were quick to point out that the performance was hardly up to standards as well.
Still trying to make this a big deal? The performance was shambles!

What do we think?
To drop points at home, in a league where every point matters, will be a huge disappointment. But to these fans, the eagerness to celebrate such mediocrity is more worrying. They want to see their club back in a position where they can celebrate wins.
