The celebrations at Hampden Park almost resulted in injury woes for Steven Gerrard. Captain James Tavernier accidentally stamped on the foot of team-mate Glen Kamara during the team’s goal celebration during the cup tie against Hearts.

Rangers tweeted out the footage prompting the captain to issue an apology. The tweet, while just a bit of banter between teammates, had some fans laughing at the whole scenario. One fan joked that at least Tavernier only stood on an ‘inexpensive’ player, referring to Kamara’s £50k transfer fee from Dundee FC.

Other fans laughed at the reaction of Tavernier’s face the moment he realized what he did. It’s fair to say that from the reaction, he felt bad.

Another group of fans warned Tavernier to be more careful around Alfredo Morelos, explaining that the Colombian may not be as forgiving as Kamara.

But it appears that all is well in the camp and the players are still getting along just fine.

What do we think?

Luckily this was just a small accident that had little consequence. We wish Kamara the speediest of recoveries from his bruised toe. Sounds like he should only be out for a few months.

In all seriousness, though, the Finland international has been a key member of Gerrard’s Light Blues plans this season, having featured in 17 matches across all competitions so far and scoring just the one goal (TransferMarkt).
