Some Celtic fans are raving about the return to action of ‘goal-machine’ Leigh Griffiths, who played for the Reserves side in a friendly game recently.

The game was played out at the Celtic’s Lennoxtown Training Centre, where the Hoops’ Reserves side had locked horns with Stenhousemuir.

The game saw the Bhoys pick up an impressive 6-0 win on the day, with 20-year-old Liam Burt grabbing a sensational hat-trick for the club. Not just that, but Griffiths also chipped in with a brace on his return to action.

It caught the attention of many Hoops’ fans and they are crying out for him to return to the first-team as soon as possible.

Griffiths last played for the Hoops in their 3-1 win over Hearts at the end of August. Since then, the Scottish striker has been out due to a hamstring injury.

In all competitions this season, Griffiths did play eight times before falling prey to the injury. During this time, he found the back of the net three times and racked up a tally of one assist as well.

Since joining from Wolves in the winter of 2014 for a fee of £1million, Griffiths has played 211 times in all competitions for the Bhoys. He has managed to score 107 times and has bagged a tally 46 assists as well.

At the turn of the year, Griffiths had taken a temporary break from the game. He had later revealed that some mental health issues were the reason for that.

Some more fans hailed Griffiths on his return.

What do we think?

Griffiths’ return should be big news for all Hoops’ fans. The man has been a faithful player for the club, has been through a fair share of ups and downs. Now that he is back, it is time to stick by him and support him.

As things stand, Odsonne Edouard is the club’s only proper striking option. The Frenchman has scored 12 times in all competitions, playing 24 times. But as the season wears on, depth does make a difference. Considering how Rangers are on their tails and only behind Celtic on goal-difference, minor improvements can make huge differences. Griffiths could be that difference-maker.
