Some Celtic fans have expressed joy at the fact that the club’s summer signing, Greg Taylor, could soon be getting more game time than he already has.

The Scotsman recently started for the national team in their 2-1 win against Cyprus. This is in stark contrast to how Taylor’s situation has been for Celtic, where he has made only three appearances in the Scottish Premiership.

A report from Football Insider had suggested that Neil Lennon has been impressed by what he has seen from Taylor in the international games. Thus, because of that, the club has decided to play the left-back more regularly moving forward.

Read Celtic picked up on the story and posted on Twitter, to which some Celtic fans have reacted positively to the news and are delighted that Taylor will play regularly soon.

Taylor signed for Celtic this past summer from Kilmarnock for an undisclosed fee. His move came about days after the Hoops sold their former youngster Kieran Tierney to Premier League giants Arsenal for a fee of £25million.

In all competitions so far under Lennon, Taylor has made six appearances. He is yet to make an appearance in European competition and is yet to contribute to a single goal since making his debut.

Taylor had made his Scotland national team debut well before he had joined. His debut came earlier this summer in the nation’s 3-0 loss to Belgium in an international friendly.

For the Killie last season, Taylor had impressed as a first-choice left-back. He made 31 appearances in the league, scoring once and racking up a tally of four assists as well.

Some Celtic fans still feel that Boli Bolingoli is a better option at left-back than Taylor for the club.

Bolingoli has been the Bhoys’ first-choice left-back so far this season. He has made ten appearances in the Championship, racking two assists so far.

What do we think?

It isn’t about whether Taylor, who is valued at £1.13 million (Transfermarkt), should be the first choice. It is about him playing more regularly than he is. It is about testing the waters and seeing if Taylor can be good enough to play often for the Bhoys. If that goes well, he can get a regular run of games. For how good he has done for the Scottish national team, he deserves some games in the first-team.
