Some Celtic fans are very certain that their club need a new striker in the upcoming January transfer window.

The Hoops are currently at the top of the Scottish Premiership table and are tied on points at the pinnacle with their fierce rivals. Steven Gerrard’s men are only one goal behind them on goal difference (BBC).

Their next game sees them face Livingston in the Premiership, followed by another home game against Stade Rennes in the UEFA Europa League.

Some Celtic fans were asked as to what position the club needs to strengthen in. The fans were certain that they need a new striker come January.

So far this season, Neil Lennon’s men have scored the most number of goals so far in the Scottish Premiership. They have scored 36 times in the league, with Rangers having found the back of the net 35 times.

Odsonne Edouard has been Celtic’s highest scorer so far this season. He has bagged a tally of 12 goals. Midfielder Ryan Christie has also scored just as many times, with James Forrest having scored just one goal fewer.

The club has only one proper striker in the side currently available and that is Edouard himself. Leigh Griffiths is currently out injured and recovering from an injury that he had suffered earlier this season.

Some more Celtic fans are sure about the need for a striker and the need for Griffiths himself.

What do we think?

It is fair to say that the club needs another striker. Indeed, the need for depth will remain to be seen as the season wears on. The next international break takes place in March and the games are now set to come in thick and fast. If Griffiths faces further problems, the striker issues will mount further.
