Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to share their joy about defender Tyrone Mings after his solid performance against Liverpool at the weekend.
Indeed, league leaders Liverpool left it late to come from behind to beat Villa 2-1 at Villa Park on Saturday. After the match, Mings shared a post on his official Twitter page saying he was sickened by the result but was pleased with the team’s performance.
The Englishman’s tweet then led to a large amount of Villa fans quick to praise Mings on his performance in the defeat.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans showing their appreciation for Mings:
So close to the most amazing result. A superb performance and we have already come so far from where we were this time last year. Villa are on the up. Chins up lads. We’re all behind you.

Mings wore the captain’s armband in the weekend’s match, taking over from the injured Jack Grealish. Liverpool’s two late goals from Robertson and Mane secured the three points for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
But, despite conceding two late goals, Villa fans were jubilant with Mings’ performance against the European Champions.
Congrats on your first captaincy big man, you like everyone were immense out there. Deserved at least a point

What do we think?
If Villa could have hung on to their lead in the game against Liverpool, it would have been a very big upset to the Merseyside club’s title charge. But their determination to never give up proved too much for Villa to cope with in the dying minutes of the game.
Mings has been an important figure in Villa’s team so far this season. In 11 Premier League appearances, Mings has an average of 7.3 clearances per game, more than any other Villa defender (per WhoScored).
Of course, It’s likely that Mings will be giving the captain’s armband back to Grealish when he returns from injury, but from his performance at the weekend, Mings has proven he has what it takes to lead a team out and put in a captain’s style performance against a big team.
