Aston Villa fans have been expressing their worries over the latest news of Jack Grealish’s return to match fitness after manager Dean Smith’s said he is now “50/50”.
This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @villareport shared a post (via Daily Mail) that included quotes from Smith during his recent press conference about Grealish’s return from injury.
This tweet then gathered a lot of replies from concerned Villa fans worried about Grealish’s injury.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans worried about Grealish:
Play him when fit, don’t rush him back. He’s one of Villa’s best, but they need to be able to hold up when he isn’t available.

Same story as last season. To start with only minor injury, then week after week @JackGrealish1 injury gets worse and worse. Remember last season he ended up missing half the season from a minor injury at first? Wish people would clarify better.

The Englishman was subbed off in Villa’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City last month with the calf issue. Since then, there have been multiple reports of many different return dates.
He has managed to produce four goals and four assists this season in all competitions.
On this latest update, some Villa fans have been very vocal on the current injury situation.
If he’s only just come back to training tonmow he won’t play unless he’s fine

Sounds a little like last season. Not giving us the full story. Seems a bit more serious than the suggestion it’s ‘like a bang on a door’ Fingers crossed

Hence why we should have a plan B

What do we think?
Given how long Grealish missed in Villa’s promotion-winning season last year after suffering another injury that was originally thought to be just a minor one, it’s understandable why some Villa fans have been concerned over this recent calf injury. The midfielder’s shinbone injury last year kept him out of the team for 83 days, making it the longest injury of his career (per Transfermarkt). The hope for every Villa fan now is that Grealish can get back to fitness as soon as possible so he can continue on his already impressive season back in the Premier League.
