Earlier in the week Rangers football club provided fans with an update on how their current loanees were doing. One of those players was Jordan Rossiter who is currently working his trade with Fleetwood (Rangers).

The 22-year-old played 79 minutes on the weekend during his team’s win against Tranmere Rovers. The midfielder has made 19 appearances so far this season. But how has he impacted the games that he’s played in?

TIF Tactics – How has Rossiter’s season Fleetwood gone?

His 19 appearances equal 1643 minutes of football so far this season. We will be looking at his average impact on games per 90 minutes. With the player making little impact on the game offensively, we will be focusing specifically on his passing and defensive contributions. Defensively, Rossiter is quite strong. He averages 9.04 defensive duels per 90 minutes, winning 64.8% of them and 3.4 aerial duels, with a 50% success rate. He also manages to average 5.97 interceptions every full game of football.

Despite playing as a central midfielder, Rossiter only averages 37.63 passes every 90 minutes. Of those passes 79.8% are accurate. As a central midfielder, it is important for Rossiter to increase these numbers, both in quantity and quality, if he wants to make it at Rangers. One promising area to look at regarding Rossiter’s passing statistics is the direction and area of his passes. While only averaging 5.31 backward passes every 90 minutes, he averages 11.89 forward passes. He also averages 5.59 passes into the final third.

Do you think these statistics warrant a move back to Ibrox?

At 22 years of age, it is time for Rossiter to seriously consider his future as a footballer. And these statistics suggest that he needs to make improvements to his game if he wants to make it at Rangers. Although, there is more to a football player than just statistics. Hopefully, for Rossiter, Rangers fans have a chance to see what he can do what his loan deal is up and he returns to the club.
