Giovani Lo Celso was finally able to make his first start in a Spurs shirt on Wednesday and marked the occasion with a well-taken goal, which delighted a lot of Spurs fans on Twitter.

Lo Celso, who joined on loan from Real Betis in the summer, was forced to wait some time for his first start under Mauricio Pochettino after a hip injury suffered on international duty kept him out of the early season games.

Spurs fans were finally granted their wish when Lo Celso was granted a start by Pochettino against Red Star Belgrade and the Argentinian showed fans what they had been missing, grabbing a goal in the first half to give Spurs the lead. It was not just his goal that impressed Spurs fans however, as the former PSG man demonstrated excellent technique and skill on the ball during the Champions League clash; and earned an 8.6 rating for his efforts.

Some of the best reactions from Spurs fans to Lo Celso’s goal and all-round performance can be seen in the tweets below.

Spurs fans were clearly delighted to see Lo Celso score on his first start for the club and will surely be hoping to see him start again against Sheffield United on Saturday.

What do we think?

Lo Celso looks to be a shrewd signing for Spurs and if he continues to perform as he did against Red Star, Spurs will no doubt take up the option of making his transfer a permanent one. The Argentine has already scored half of the goals scored by Christian Eriksen for Spurs this season and could prove the Denmark international’s long-term successor, with many Spurs fans hoping Lo Celso replaces Eriksen in the line-up sooner rather than later.
