Spurs fans were shocked to hear that Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has admitted he regrets not signing Tanguy Ndombele in the summer, with some fans now worried he might leave to join the Spanish side in the near future.

According to Spanish media outlet Defensacentral (via DailyHotspur), Zidane seriously regrets not making a move for the former Lyon man in the summer. Spurs signed the 22-year-old in a club-record deal in the summer, although the Frenchman has only recently nailed down a starting spot in Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Ndombele has made a promising start to his Spurs career, largely impressing fans with his Champions League displays; in which he has averaged a 7.65 rating thus far. The young midfielder grabbed a debut goal for the North London club in their 3-1 win over Aston Villa on the opening weekend and a lot of Spurs fans are excited about his potential following his first few months in English football.

Reaction from Spurs fans to the news of Zidane’s interest in Ndombele can be seen in the tweets below.

Spurs fans are clearly concerned that Ndombele could leave amidst Real Madrid’s interest in the midfielder.

What do we think?

Although Ndombele has impressed in some games, he looks to be struggling to adapt to the physical demands of the Premier League; recently admitting that he was forced to come off against Sheffield United due to fatigue.

With Pochettino’s side currently languishing in 14th position, however, it would not be a surprise to see Ndombele leave if there was sufficient interest from Real Madrid, who would at least have to pay his current value of £58.5 million (Transfermarkt). However, Spurs will no doubt want to hold on to the talented 22-year-old, who will surely show his obvious talent on a more regular basis once he sorts his fitness issues out.
