A lot of Spurs fans are less than convinced by manager Mauricio Pochettino’s latest demands, with the Argentinian looking to sign three defenders, a holding midfielder and two attackers in January with the hopes of turning their season around.

According to the Times, Pochettino is planning a big overhaul in the upcoming transfer window in an attempt to push Spurs back up the table, and perhaps to try and save his own job in the process. However, chairman Daniel Levy has gained a reputation for being a very shrewd spender in his time with Spurs, with the club failing to spend in the 2018/19 season, before eventually opening his wallet in the summer of 2019, so it would perhaps be a surprise to see Levy sanction so many transfers.

Spurs have had a dreadful start to the season and sit 14th in the Premier League after Saturday’s draw with Sheffield United, with Pochettino clearly believing that some new signings are needed to try and turn their form around. The idea of some new faces at the club will no doubt please fans, especially if they are defenders, but many fans are not convinced that Pochettino will be able to bring in many of the players on his shortlist.

Reaction from Spurs fans to Pochettino’s reported wishlist can be seen in the tweets below.

Spurs fans are clearly not hopeful of an influx of signings, with Levy seeming to be the main barrier between Pochettino and his wishlist of new players.

What do we think?

Pochettino was entrusted with a transfer budget over the summer and brought in some good signings, including Tanguy Ndombele, Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani Lo Celso. If we see a few Spurs players move on in January, he may be able to sign a couple of players, but to sign six players in January seems like Pochettino is admitting that he got it wrong over the summer. It would be a big surprise to see Levy allow Pochettino to make so many signings, but he may think that is the only way Spurs can turn their season around.
