Spurs fans were full of praise for midfielder Tanguy Ndombele for his appearance off the bench against Olympiakos in the Champions League on Tuesday and fans are now excited about seeing more of the 22-year-old under Jose Mourinho.
Ndombele, who signed from Lyon in a club-record deal in the summer, came off the bench against Olympiakos with 11 minutes remaining, but still managed to complete more take-ons than any other player, according to StatmanDave (via LastWordonSpurs).
It was the midfielder’s first minutes under Jose Mourinho as he recovers from a minor injury and he certainly put himself in the new manager’s thoughts for a starting spot against Bournemouth on Saturday.
The Frenchman has impressed in the Champions League for Spurs so far this season; averaging a 7.46 rating, but has struggled to adapt to the pace of the Premier League, with Ndombele himself admitting that he had to come off against Sheffield United due to fatigue.
Should Tanguy Ndombele be starting under Mourinho?
Yes
No
However, after his strong impact from the bench against Olympiakos, Spurs fans are getting very excited about Ndombele’s future under Mourinho, as can be seen in the tweets below.

Must not be frozen out. Must become a key player for us. It’s not possible that the likes of Dier or Winks can be ahead of him

1/ Need his athleticism in midfield, esp if playing a 2 as outnumbered vs teams with 3. A fan of Dier in the past, but he needs time to get back. Look at diff xtra athleticism of Valverde makes for Real M, at Modric’s expense. Moussa knows he’s not first choice now

Tanguy Ndombele is a class player who hasn’t settled in yet there’s a lot more to come from him when he gets more game time

Must start every game when fit.

Yes I thought he looked very sharp and I think he should start this weekend.

That’s why I love him!

Wow

I reckon Joao Sacramento will be in Jose’s ear about him, having been in Ligue 1 for a few years. He’ll know all about him.

He’ll play a massive part of Jose’s new spurs.

Spurs fans were clearly impressed with Ndombele’s display against Olympiakos and will be hoping to see a lot more of the 22-year-old in the coming weeks.
What do we think?
Ndombele, who is valued at £58.5 million (Transfermarkt), has shown great dynamism from midfield in spells this season but really needs to improve his fitness if he wants to be starting under Mourinho. The former Lyon man will need to impress the Portuguese manager if he wants to force himself into the starting line-up in place of Harry Winks and Eric Dier, as the latter has started the club’s first two games under Mourinho’s guidance.
