Manchester City find themselves nine points behind the Premier League leaders Liverpool and that’s largely down to an injury-ravaged season that has seen them struggle to keep the pace with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The general consensus amongst the clubs supporters is that City are in desperate need of some defensive recruits this January if they are to stand any chance of closing the gap on Liverpool.
However, according to Calciomercato via Sport Witness, the club are looking to add a couple of midfield players to their squad and a number of fans reacted to the news.

What do we think?
Pep Guardiola clearly believes once Laporte returns he will have sufficient defensive options and doesn’t see the recruitment of a central-defender as a priority.
That may confuse the clubs supporters but perhaps keeping the faith in the man who guided them to a record 98 points in the Premier League last season isn’t such a bad idea. City need to continue picking up points during this challenging period and keep within a reasonable distance of Liverpool who they will feel will face a difficult period of their own between now and the end of the season.
