Spurs fans were highly complimentary of young midfielder Harry Winks on Twitter this weekend after the 23-year-old hit his first goal for England in their 4-0 win over Kosovo.
Winks, who is a product of Spurs’ youth academy, opened the scoring in Kosovo with an excellent touch and calm finish for his first international goal. It was just Winks’ sixth appearance for England and he will no doubt be hoping that it will be the first of many under Gareth Southgate.
Winks was unsurprisingly joined on the scoresheet by fellow Spurs man Harry Kane as England finished off their European qualifying campaign in style against Kosovo. The 23-year-old has endured a poor start to the season with Spurs; averaging a 6.54 rating, so Spurs fans will be hoping this goal gives him the confidence to improve his domestic performances.
Reaction from Spurs fans to Winks’ goal and performance can be seen in the tweets from Spurs fans below.

Deserved it tonight, however I suspect he might revert to holding player, rice continually caught in the wrong position and not great in possession

Spurs fans were clearly delighted with Winks’ England display and will be hoping to see similar performances under Mauricio Pochettino in the near future.
What do we think?
Winks really showed his class for England on Sunday evening but is yet to perform in a struggling Spurs side so far this season. The midfielder has been benched in place of Tanguy Ndombele in recent weeks, last starting a game against Liverpool in October but after his impressive England displays, Mauricio Pochettino may decide to restore him to the side ahead of Spurs’ trip to West Ham this weekend.
