Spurs fans have been reacting to a possible transfer for James Rodriguez in a swap deal which would see Christian Eriksen head to Real Madrid.
According to Spanish newspaper ElDesmarque (via RickySacks), a swap deal between Real Madrid and Spurs could be on the cards in the upcoming January transfer window. Rodriguez, who signed for Real Madrid from Monaco in 2014, has never really settled at the Madrid club and looks set to leave the club in the near future.
The Colombian burst onto the scene at the 2014 World Cup but has yet to repeat his international heroics with the La Liga club and spent two seasons on loan to Bayern Munich, who opted not to buy the 28-year-old in the summer.
With Christian Eriksen’s future up in the air, a swap deal could be in the interests of both Madrid and Spurs, with Zinedine Zidane looking to axe the Colombian from his squad.
Rodriguez has scored just once this season in nine appearances for Real Madrid and is clearly struggling to perform under Zidane, so perhaps a move to Spurs could rejuvenate his career.
His possible transfer has split the opinion of Spurs fans on Twitter, as can be seen in the tweets below:
James is an injury liability worse than Lamela.

don’t rate this guy, so id prefer we didn’t. Injury prone, is on a huge wage and is 27/28 (I think)

Rather get Odriazola or Bale instead. James is past it and would bring negative energy.

No thank you

This must be a wind up.

Spurs fans are clearly in disagreement over the possible signing of Rodriguez after his recent injury problems have stilted his career.
What do we think?
Spurs risk losing Eriksen on a free next summer anyway, so if they can recuperate a player of Rodriguez’s quality then that seems like a decent deal. A fresh start might be exactly what Rodriguez needs in order to rediscover the form that made Real Madrid sign him in the first place.
If this deal is a possibility for Pochettino then it would be a surprise to see him turn it down.
