A lot of Spurs fans have renewed hope that the club can finish in the top four after it was revealed that Mauricio Pochettino’s side have statistically the easiest remaining fixtures.
The stat, which was posted by TranSpurs (via Footylabs), suggests that Spurs have had the 8th hardest start of all the teams in the Premier League; which may go some way to explaining their current lowly position, and that the North London club have the “easiest” remaining fixtures of all the teams in the top flight.
This cannot be used as an excuse for Spurs’ poor start to the season, however, as they have been extremely poor against traditionally ‘lower-half- opposition; losing games against Newcastle and Brighton and drawing at home against bottom side
Reaction from Spurs fans to the positive news can be seen in the tweets below.
Well yes but we’ve also lost to newcastle at home and drew with Watford (bottom place) lost 3-0 to Brighton

So 26x 3 points then from the remaining games of the season and we’ll have 92 points, top 4 and CL secured again. All part of Levy and Poch’s plan…

On November 23 we play West Ham, I hope we win, I support Pochettino a lot but losing or drawing against them would be shame

Spurs fans are clearly feeling a bit more positive about the rest of the season after this stat was released but recognise that their current form will have to drastically improve if they are to push for the top four.
What do we think?
Spurs’ next Premier League fixture represents a real opportunity to get their season back on track as they travel to a West Ham side without a win since September. If they can win that and get a bit of confidence behind them, then there’s no reason why they can’t push on and get at least a top-six spot.
