Spurs fans have been given a positive update with their ongoing interest in Sporting Lisbon Bruno Fernandes and fans are hopeful that they can get a deal done in January.
According to Portuguese outlet A Bola (via Sport Witness) Sporting Lisbon are set to approach Palmeiras midfielder Gustavo Scarpa as a replacement for Fernandes in January. The 25-year-old has been in scintillating form for the Liga NOS side so far this season and it seems as if Sporting Lisbon are resigned to him leaving in the upcoming transfer window.
Fernandes has averaged an impressive 7.7 rating so far this campaign; scoring eight goals in all competitions for the Portuguese giants. He is seen by many Spurs fans as the ideal replacement for Christian Eriksen, who is likely to leave in either January or next summer when his contract expires.

Spurs fans are clearly hoping that a deal can be arranged with Sporting Lisbon to try and bring Fernandes in.
What do we think?
Fernandes looks to be the ideal Eriksen replacement but seems to be more of a natural goal-scorer than the Denmark international; with 57 goals in his 126 games for Sporting.
He is valued at £54 million, however, so it may be a surprise to see Daniel Levy sanction a transfer for the Portuguese international, unless Spurs manage to sell Eriksen in January.
