Tanguy Ndombele has reassured Spurs fans that his injury against Sheffield United was mainly due to fatigue, news which has a lot of fans concerned about his fitness levels.
The French midfielder started both of the away games at Everton and Red Star Belgrade and largely impressed, but it seems a third game on the trot against high-flying Sheffield United proved too much for the young midfielder, as he was substituted at half-time.
Although, the midfielder has since stated (L’Equipe) that it was more fatigue.
Here’s what he said:
“I’ve had scans that said there was nothing serious, it was more fatigue,
“What is certain is that I am fit for Sunday. Thursday may be a little early, I do not think I’ll be 100 percent.”
If his injury was down to fatigue as Ndombele suggests, then Spurs fans will perhaps be hoping that he can use the international break to rest and recuperate ahead of their trip to West Ham next weekend.
Reaction from Spurs fans to Ndombele’s injury confession can be seen in the tweets below.
How on earth has he cost us £60m+ when he can’t play twice in a week? Fantastically talented player, but that is shocking fitness.

He’s an amazing player, but looks so unfit. Once that’s sorted out, he will be an ultimate force.

He did looked knackered. In fact he looks tored every game after some 60 mins or so. Training fatigue for sure

Unbelievable! At no other club would you get this – what the hell are this management team doing Monday to Friday? Cannot believe it will be allowed to carry on much longer!

Spurs fans are clearly starting to worry about Ndombele’s fitness and will be hoping he can adjust to the Premier League as quickly as possible.
What do we think?
Ndombele has impressed in games in Europe; averaging a 7.65 rating but seems to struggle with the intensity of the Premier League. It seems strange that someone who is 22-years-old and had a full pre-season is being forced to come off at half-time in games due to fatigue.
