Spurs fans were delighted to hear that the club have tabled a contract offer for teenage striker Troy Parrott, with the hopes of tying down the Republic of Ireland international’s long-term future.
According to Football Insider (via RickySacks), Spurs have begun contract negotiations with the 17-year-old striker following his international debut with the Republic of Ireland this week. Parrott made his first senior Spurs appearance in their Carabao Cup defeat by Colchester in September but is yet to feature in the Premier League for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Parrott caught the eye of fans when he hit four goals in the UEFA Youth League against Red Star Belgrade earlier in the season and the youngster has continued his fine goalscoring form with the academy teams. With Spurs currently struggling in the league, many fans will be hoping that this new contract brings the promise of more first-team action for Parrott.
Reaction from fans to the news of Parrott’s contract offer can be seen in the tweets below.

Should he be loaned to a Championship side to get regular playing time in January instead of sitting in the bench?

Any chance he’s just going to let his contract run out like the others?

The next Harry Kane, if handled properly.

Spurs fans are clearly delighted with the club’s decision to try and extend Parrott’s contract and will surely be hoping that he accepts the offer as soon as possible.
What do we think?
Parrott has showed a lot of promise and impressed against New Zealand on his international debut earlier in the week. It is a surprise that the 17-year-old is yet to make his Premier League debut considering Spurs’ woeful form, although Harry Kane’s recent exploits may go some way to explaining that. However, if Parrott accepts this contract offer then you would expect him to start making his impact in the top division sooner rather than later.
